Niall Horan Had a Grand Adventure in Southeast Asia After One Direction's Hiatus Started

After One Direction went on hiatus, the first thing that Niall Horan did was book a flight.

Where? To Southeast Asia, of all place.

Turns out that right after 1D‘s last appearance as a band in 2015 (has it really been that long?), Niall threw whatever he could into a backpack and headed somewhere where people wouldn’t know him, along with “two of his cousins (and one chill security guard)”, according to Billboard.

Niall revealed in his cover story, that they had “rented scooters wherever they went, ate whatever was around, shared rooms for $20 a night and bought same-day flights to get to whichever place was next.”

“[I] literally didn’t wear a shirt for three weeks [in Thailand, but in Bali] it pissed rain,” he revealed of his getaway trip.

Niall and his cousins also went to Hanoi, Vietnam, and Boracay, in the Philippines.

But the hotel in Boracay wasn’t the greatest: “[There were] lights flickering, cats drinking out the pool, spiders walking the wall, damp bedsheets, plus you’ve got the shits from the dodgy food” — but he loved every minute of it.

Niall‘s debut solo album is due out this fall.
