Lauren Jauregui Dishes on The Importance of Her 'Strangers' Duet with Halsey

Lauren Jauregui‘s new collab with Halsey is nothing short of amazing — but it’s also sparking a bigger conversation.

The track, “Strangers”, may just be the only song about a same sex relationship that’s playing on the radio right now.

“It’s a whole space that no one’s ever really touched upon before, and I feel like representation in music is so important,” Lauren shared with Elle. “And reality-wise, we’ve [Halsey and I] both been in the situation before with different people, so it’s cool to have that representation.”

Lauren says about the track, “This song is a love song we’re singing to each other. That kind of narrative and that emotional aspect of [relationships between two women] hasn’t been touched upon at all, especially in pop music.”

“People are excited about how revolutionary it is, and they’re so excited to be given a piece of music they feel represented in,” she added.
