Selena Gomez's 'Revival' Album Taught Her How to Stand Up for Herself

Selena Gomez‘s album Revival was an enormous stepping stone for her career, re-introducing the pop star to the world as a much more open, raw, and honest artist than ever before (listen here.)

As it turns out, the 24-year-old singer grew as much as a person as she did musically while making the album.

When asked in a radio interview what the album taught her, she answered: “just to learn how to stand up for myself I think.”

She went on to detail that as a young artist it is difficult to come into your own and to truly explore your sound, but she took a risk and did that with the Revival album.

“In the past…you’re 15, 16, 17 you’re going to be really influenced by what adults are saying,” she told Zach Sang, “The older you get you’re like I don’t feel inspired by this; this is not me.”

Her music became so much better the moment she began to stand up for her distinct sound, and we are so glad that she did. We can’t wait to hear her next album (which we all know is coming)!
