'Toy Story' Writer Says Andy's Dad Backstory is Definitely Not True

If you’ve been hearing a very sad backstory about Andy’s dad in Toy Story passing away after battling polio, don’t believe it.

Andrew Stanton, who served as a writer for all of the Toy Story movies, has revealed that the claim is totally fake.

Toy designer and reviewer Mike Mozart started the backstory, stating that he was friends with the late former Pixar head writer Joe Ranft. Youtubers SuperCarlinBrothers then took the story viral.

“Complete and utter fake news,” Andrew tweeted on Saturday (Jun 24). “Everyone go back to your homes. Nothing to see here, folks. #Iwasthere.”
