Auli'i Cravalho Offers Up First Details About Her Character on New Show 'Rise'

We all know Auli’i Cravalho as Moana, but come this fall, we’re going to know her as someone entirely different.

The actress will star as Lilette Suarez in NBC’s Rise, which centers on a high school drama department which comes alive with the help of a passionate teacher.

Speaking with Broadway World, Auli’i revealed the first details about her character.

“This character is so close to my heart,” she said. “She doesn’t come from a perfect home and no one does and that’s what counts.”

Auli’i adds that that is what makes her identify with Lilette the most.

“That no matter what, no matter what your passion is, no matter where you start out from, it’s where you go and what you do with your life, that is something that even you don’t fully know and you won’t know until you try.”
