Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch Had A Hard Time With Cheryl Blossom Being On The Receiving End Of Parental Abuse

Cheryl Blossom has been through just about everything in season one of Riverdale.

The biggest thing was losing her twin brother, Jason, at the hands of her own father, Clifford. That would be hard to go through for anyone, but you have to add in her parents’ abuse, too.

All of that is one hard childhood, and it’s something that Madelaine Petsch had a hard time with.

“The parental abuse was very difficult to bring out,” she shared in a recent interview. “I come from a very supportive home, so to create this persona was very dark.”

Madelaine adds that losing someone close to you was also a difficult thing for her character.

“I lost a best friend a couple of years ago and that was kind of what I had to tap and think about on a daily basis,” she shared. “I always say actors are the people who try to feel everyone else’s suffering. I had to bring up some things that I didn’t really wanna think about, but it worked, right?”

Riverdale season two is currently filming.
