Lele Pons Further Explains Why She Couldn't Donate Her Hair

Lele Pons has faced some backlash over her recent desire to donate her hair.

The 21-year-old social media star cut her long blonde locks with the intent to donate them, but sadly, she learned they didn’t accept color-treated hair.

“The locks of hair shown in the Instagram photo was used as reference to show how many inches I cut,” Lele told Allure. “At the time of the photo, my real hair was being collected to make a ponytail because I had intended on donating it.”

“It has always been a wish of mine to donate my hair to a charity that makes custom wigs for cancer patients,” Lele said. “There are people all over the world that lose their hair due to illness, and I wanted to do something to help make a difference.”

Lele has apologized for the mix-up and told the mag she she’s “discussing potential opportunities with a local hospital” to lend a hand.
