KJ Apa Doesn't See 'Riverdale' As Just the Archie Andrews Show

KJ Apa might star as Archie Andrews on Riverdale, which is based on the Archie comics, but he knows full and well that the show isn’t just about Archie.

Speaking with BBC Newsbeat, the New Zealand-born actor opened up about how it’s all about to core four and how the fans are loving every bit of it.

“The show is called Riverdale not Archie and I think it’s about all four of us,” KJ says. “I don’t really see myself at the center of it. I’m still taking it step by step every day.”

And yes, KJ is real friends with Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes.

“It’s awesome to be able to work with my mates. We spend a lot of time together,” he adds. “But at the same time it’s good to get a break every now and then.”

KJ says about the fans reaction to the series, “It’s grown pretty fast. I don’t think any of us expected it to grow this fast. I’m just trying not to let it get too gnarly.”

Riverdale returns in October on The CW.
