Noah Cyrus Dishes On Her Biggest Musical Inspiration with 'Popstar' Mag

One would think that Noah Cyrus‘ older sister Miley, or even her dad, Billy Ray, would be her biggest musical inspirations — but you’d be wrong.

The “Make Me Cry” singer opens up with Popstar magazine in their August issue about the music that inspired her and it’s Ben Howard!

“For this album, the most inspiring music was my dad’s and Ben Howard‘s,” Noah says. “I started listening to Ben Howard when I was 14. His album, I Forget Where We Were, came out that year. I talk about this all the time, but that album like completely changed my life.”

She continues, “I was in that awkward, teenage, weird phase where you just don’t know who you are…you’re growing up and trying to figure it all out. That album really helped me pull it together. It opened a whole new world of music for me.”

Ben’s album served as a jumping point for Noah, who dived head first into music then.

“I don’t think I would have started writing an album if it wasn’t for that album,” Noah adds. “When I went into the studio for the first time, I wanted to have that effect that Ben Howard had on me whenever I heard it, where I could talk about anything and it would still make someone feel emotion, make them feel a certain way.”
