These Are Taylor Swift's Most Memorable VMA Moments Over the Years

Taylor Swift came into the public eye in 2008, and hasn’t left since.

The country-turned-pop singer is a staple of award shows, snagging nominations left and right, wearing evolving attire to match the era of her music, and penning songs and speeches directed at various exes and celebrities who have wronged her.

Since 2008, she has appeared at the VMAs seven out of nine times, and nearly every year is memorable, be it for the resulting drama, her speeches, or her squad.

In light of the highly-anticipated 2017 MTV VMAs this weekend, we’re taking a look back at her VMA appearances (or lack thereof) over the last decade.

2008: This was Taylor‘s inaugural VMA ceremony. She was nominated for “Artist to Watch” alongside Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus — though none of the women took home the award. Tay also attended the awards with her then-beau Joe Jonas.
