Niall Horan Reveals That The Title Track of His Album 'Flicker' Changed The Entire Feel Of It

Niall Horan is on an announcement role with his new album, Flicker, coming out in October.

The musician opened up about the record more while speaking on Nova’s Smallzy’s Surgery, and how the title track changed everything he was planning for.

“I’d obviously written a lot of stuff when I was teenager and 19 or whatever,” Niall says. “So I felt like this was the first time I’d written stuff from an adult’s point of view looking back at those times or present times.

“The ideas came pretty naturally to me because they’re clearly on my mind all the time. There were long hours spent trying to write this and trying to get things right, obviously I wasn’t going to release a lot of crap so I was putting my heart and soul into it, hence the fact I started writing it last March and it’s nearly October and it’s still not out.”

Niall adds that “Flicker”, the song, changed his mind about where the album was headed.

“I’d written most of the album by probably November last year and then I wrote this song called ‘Flicker’…I kind of took the album veered off into a different direction,” he says. “[It] kinda changed my mind on where I was taking it hence the fact it’s quite chilled out from what you’ll hear in a few weeks.”

Niall continues, “It wasn’t like that everything was going wrong, I just felt like I could do better at some points, and some songs weren’t as good as the next and just don’t want to bring out an album full of fillers.”
