Demi Lovato Confesses She Didn't Love Performing 'Confident' Album on Tour: 'It Just Wasn't Fun For Me'

Demi Lovato just released an amazing new album, Tell Me You Love Me.

In a new interview with Noisey, the “Ruin The Friendship” singer opens up about how this album is much more her, and how she didn’t love performing her previous album Confident while on tour in 2016.

“When I went on tour and I sang all pop stuff, it just wasn’t fun for me,” she says. “It wasn’t soulful; I wasn’t getting into the songs. It was just kind of going through the motions.”

Those emotions led her to a breakthrough though, one that led to her new album.

“When I came off tour, I was like, ‘You know what, I want to write music that’s going to be fun for me to sing every night,’” Demi says.

She adds, “As great as my last album turned outI’m really proud of it and I love all the songs on it; it just wasn’t, I feel like, who I am today and the artist I want to be…I feel like I’m a totally different person [this album cycle].”
