Demi Lovato Got Sober to Be Around Little Sister Madison De La Garza

Demi Lovato celebrated her 5 year anniversary of being sober in March, and she credits her recovery in a large part to her family’s repeated interventions.

“Everyone was like, ‘We are no longer going to leave, we are leaving,’” she told The Jonathan Ross Show. “That was the moment when I thought, ‘Okay, I really need to get help and get sober.’”

Demi was especially influenced by her love for her sister, Madison De La Garza.

“One of the main reasons of getting sober was so that I could be around my little sister,” she continued, “because my mom and dad [said I couldn't be around her] if I was doing stuff.”

It worked, too: “‘I got the help I needed and now I co-own a treatment center.’”
