Camila Mendes Dishes About Betty & Veronica's Fight in 'Riverdale' Season 2
We’ve been hearing a lot about the rift that Betty and Veronica will be going through in Riverdale‘s upcoming second season.
Now, Camila Mendes is telling fans a bit more in her new feature with Teen Vogue.
First things first, it’s not about Archie. Or any guy.
“It’s just about Betty being in a compromising situation, and her having to hurt [Veronica] in order to protect her,” Camila explains. “It comes from a place of love, but it’s still heartbreaking, and they do eventually make up, as they always do and always will.”
She adds about why a lot of fans always think a fight between girls is all about a guy: “It’s the narrative that’s been told over and over again, especially by Archie comics.”
“I think maybe some people just feel like they want to see that play out, but that’s just not really our show,” Camila adds. “We’re not telling the story of Archie and Betty and Veronica’s love triangle. We’re telling a story of friendship and the loss of innocence.
