Jordan Fisher Shares His Adoption Story on DWTS

Jordan Fisher bravely shared his personal story of adoption tonight during Dancing with the Stars.

The Hamilton star has kept his personal story close to his heart for a long time and this marks the first time he’s opening up about it.

“My most memorable year was 2005, because it was the year that I was officially adopted. I was taken in by my grandparents almost from birth,” he says. “My mother was 16 when she had me and struggled with substance abuse. Drugs can make someone really selfish.”

“She wasn’t fit or ready to be a mom and take care of a kid,” he continues. “My grandparents took me out of that world.”

“They were always Mom and Dad to me. They’re the best. This week is going to be my dedication to them. [I remember] going to the courthouse and the judge saying ‘By the power vested in me, you are officially Mom and Dad’. I think there’s something to be said about a document, legally proving something you know to be fact already. The slam of the gavel, it’s kind of like being reborn.”

“My being adopted, it saved me. It literally saved my life. It could’ve been really tough and…I was so loved. I’m just so grateful for them.”

Jordan younger siblings, Cory and Trinity, were also adopted by his parents, Pam and Rodney Fisher.
