Shadowhunters' Katherine McNamara & Nicola Correia-Damude Clap Back at Troll Who Criticized Their Gender Pronouns on Twitter
Shadowhunters stars Katherine McNamara and Nicola Correia-Damude aren’t changing anything about themselves, or their Twitter bios, for anyone.
The Twitter user wrote that “@Kat_McNamara & @NicolaNCD need to take some grammar advice from @AnnaBananaHops & @WainwrightAE … ACTRESS, YOU’RE FEMALE NOT MALE.”
Nicola, who plays Maryse Lightwood on the show, clapped back at the troll almost immediately, writing, “I completey respect @AnnaBananaHops and @WainwrightAE right to use their chosen identification. And @Kat_McNamara and I do too. My 2 cents!”
AMEN!
Kat added later, “Agreed, ladies! Every choice is valid. Save the drama for the screen…”
There’s no rule that says female actors have to go by ‘actress’ and we shouldn’t make them write that either. They are ACTORS, and it’s their choice which pronoun they want to use.
I think @Kat_McNamara & @NicolaNCD need to take some grammar advice from @AnnaBananaHops & @WainwrightAE … ACTRESS, YOU'RE FEMALE NOT MALE ?? pic.twitter.com/NVeOWcH2O7
