Dove Cameron Opens Up About Beauty Insecurities on Social Media

Dove Cameron used to have a love/hate relationship with her complexion, one that she’s sharing with her fans on social media this week.

The Descendants 2 actress revealed a new diary entry on Twitter recently, opening up about how she once hated how pale her skin was.

“Thinking back, all the way back, I’ve always let other people define a lot for me, specifically about myself,” she writes, revealed how she used to blush and turn red in gym classes.

“…Starting to be aware of this at the age of eight, and hating my pale skin for revealing my thoughts, and therefore feeling the need to cover it with my Chanel powder everyday like armor.

Dove continues, “Thus, probably beginning my lifelong romance with makeup.”

“Who’s to say that pink, hot, rushing/racing blood under your cheeks isn’t just divine? Is it not aliveness? …I feel an intense desire to redefine myself and my views of myself.”
