'Maze Runner' Star Kaya Scodelario Takes Part in #MeToo Campaign With Own Story of Sexual Harassment
Over the weekend, Twitter saw the #MeToo campaign take over the social media network.
Actress Alyssa Milano kicked off the campaign and explained it best: “Suggested by a friend: If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote ‘Me too’ as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem. If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet.”
Many have come forward, including Maze Runner actress Kaya Scodelario.
“It’s taken me 13 years to say #MeToo. He is still protected by ‘family members’ in Brazil. They’ve told lies to papers to try to silence me,” she bravely writes on Twitter. “No more. #MeToo.”
“I want to thank every single person who has spoken out about sexual assault/harassment http://recently,” Kaya adds. “You’ve given me the courage to finally speak out and not be afraid. To everyone still suffering silently, you never asked for it. NOBODY DOES.”
I do this for my son. So that he will see one day that we all have a voice. And that this behavior can not be tolerated any longer.
