'Wizards of Waverly Place' Showrunner Didn't Like This One Episode of the Series

We all have our favorite episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place (for JJJ it was “Justin’s New Girlfriend”), and we all have the ones that didn’t impress us much.

The one that showrunner Todd Greenwald didn’t love? “Make It Happen”.

If you don’t remember, this was the episode where the three Russo kids were tasked with choosing a backup career if they didn’t win the family wizard competition.

Alex decided on becoming a professional drummer, much to the dismay of her father.

“I’d like to forget that episode happened,” he shared in a recent interview. “That was weird.”

He adds, “I just think it was some people from above wanting to jump in on the Disney musical thing, and it was sort of a peg in a round hole, if you ask me. It made for a memorable, random episode. There were definitely some random, memorable episodes. That was one of them.”

He’s right though, the episode did seem just a little out of place.

“Of course they’re going to throw you a catchy song,” Todd continued. “But, I don’t know what’s so amazing about watching a girl playing a wizard playing the drums, singing a catchy song. It has nothing to do with Wizards. Zero. That was the most un-Wizards-like episode. There were a few, but that was weird.”
