Andi Mack's Joshua Rush is 'Crazy Proud' To Be Part of the Show After Gay Storyline Makes Headlines

Disney Channels’ Andi Mack broke a lot of boundaries in its’ first season for tackling teen pregnancy, and now it’s breaking more barriers with a gay storyline.

Joshua Rush, who plays Cyrus, who is the character developing feelings for another series regular character, Jonah, opened up on social media after the story broke.

“Starting conversations about trust, love, relationships and family dynamics is easier when you have a show that you can relate to. Andi Mack gives young people and their parents, mentors, and champions a meaningful way to talk about these topics and the power to decide their futures. I’m so proud to bring Cyrus’ groundbreaking storyline to life and for you to see what we’ve been working on,” he wrote on Instagram.

He added on his Stories that he was “crazy proud” to be part of the show.

Earlier today, Josh posted an image for Unity Day and wore his orange shirt proud.

In the campaign, and on the tee, he wrote to Be “Cyrus”: “proud of who you are!”

We can’t wait to watch Cyrus’ storyline unfold on the series, which returns on Friday, October 27th @ 8PM ET/PT on Disney Channel.
