Dacre Montgomery Shares Story Of How He Booked 'Stranger Things' Role

Dacre Montgomery‘s role as Billy on Stranger Things has been kept hush-hush for quite a while.

While we’re definitely interested in just who Billy is, besides his little sister’s tormentor (aren’t all big brothers though?), we love hearing his audition story even more.

Speaking with Refinery29, Dacre revealed that his audition tape was definitely something to look at.

“I made a little short film, with an opening score and title credits and I read both of the scenes I was given…I danced in a g-string to ‘Hungry Like The Wolf’ [by Duran Duran].”

That was apparently the only thing showrunners/creators the Duffer Brothers needed, because he got the part just like that.

Dacre continues, “It was kind of crazy. I got a call, and I was supposed to do a test the next week. I Skyped the Duffer Brothers on Sunday and got a call on Monday that I got the part. So I was in Australia, and three weeks later I moved to America.”

“That audition could have gone one of two ways,” he says. “I could have never worked in this industry again, but someone, somewhere, saw something.”

Stranger Things season two premieres on Friday, October 27th on Netflix.
