Peyton Elizabeth Lee on 'Andi Mack's Gay Storyline: 'We Include, We Support, We Love'

Peyton Elizabeth Lee has spoken out about the gay storyline that Andi Mack will feature in season two.

The actress, who stars as the title character, took to her Instagram to react to the story about Cyrus having and struggling with his feelings for Jonah.

“We include. We support. We love. Everyone. No matter what. Not despite, but because of their differences,” Peyton writes. “There is no us. There is no they. There is only we.”

She continues, “Andi Mack celebrates the human spirit. In all of its glory. Hopefully our portrayal of a couple of teenagers living real lives and feeling real feelings inspires people to participate in conversations vital to any healthy relationship.”

“You should lead whatever life you want. Love whoever you want. Don’t let anyone, ever, no matter what, tell you anything else.”

“Couldn’t be prouder to be a part of @disneychannel ‘s #AndiMack !! Since my very first audition, I knew this show was something really special- a show that portrayed people are they really are, that sent the right messages of inclusion and empathy. That valued all kinds of characters and made room for the stories less told. I cannot WAIT for people to watch this Friday’s Season Premiere, and I hope they get as much feeling and joy out of it as I did being a part of it! Go Disney!!” Lilan wrote.
