Disney Channel's 'Andi Mack' Banned in Kenya Following Gay Storyline

Andi Mack‘s brand new season premiered just last week with a storyline that sees Cyrus realize his feelings for Jonah.

While many fans welcomed the inclusive storyline, the country of Kenya did not.

Variety reports that the Kenya Film Classification Board’s chief executive Ezekial Mutua issued a statement earlier this week that the show would not be allowed to air in Kenya and “any attempt to introduce gay programming in Kenya will be met with the full force of the law.”

The statement goes on to say that “homosexuality goes against the collective and values of the people of Kenya.”

Mutua said in a Facebook post that the board “has a duty to protect children from exposure to harmful film and [broadcast] content,” adding “Gay Content Will Not Air in Kenya…PERIOD!”

Kenya has also banned seven cartoons programs from the airwaves because of what Mutua described as “retrogressive and bizarre messages intended to promote the [LGBT] agenda.”

Andi Mack airs Fridays on Disney Channel.
