'Once Upon a Time' To End With Season Seven; Series Finale Will Air in May

If you were hoping for another season solely dedicated to Drizella on Once Upon a Time, we need to let you down — because the series will officially end with this season.

Variety reports that the seven-season show will say goodbye in May, after airing over 150 episodes.

Speaking with showrunners and executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, the two hoped that the series could continue on, just in another format.

“The show is a giant spinoff sequel,” Eddy says. “Every year we felt like we rebooted it. Every year we would take it somewhere else. So there are always spin offs to be had. I wouldn’t close the door to any of it.”

Adam added, “It’s been wonderful and we hope that Once Upon a Time can live in some form whether it’s spinoffs or redos or comic books. We love our fans and we hope that they can continue to enjoy this world.”

Once Upon a Time returns on March 2nd on ABC.
