Dove Cameron Freaked Out Over Being Cast in 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

Dove Cameron makes her debut on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. tonight!

The 22-year-old actress will play Ruby, the edgy daughter of General Hale who wants to know if she’s a good guy or bad guy.

Speaking with Collider, Dove opened up about her reaction to joining the series.

“The reality of it is that, if I’ve ever seen the show that I’m going to be working on and I know I’m going to get cast in it, I turn it off immediately and don’t watch it. The fact that it is such a big deal can be intimidating.”

And that’s exactly how she felt — intimidated.

“Especially with Clark [Gregg] because I grew up watching all of the [Marvel] films, and he first showed up in all of the films. I saw him and I was like, ‘Oh, my god, there’s Coulson!,’ and I freaked out,” Dove recalls. “I knew that they were a very well-oiled machine, so I was intimidated, but it didn’t last long. I know it’s every actor’s job to be like, ‘Everybody was so nice! They’re the best!’ But it really, really, really was like that.”

She also shared that she and Chloe Bennet, who plays Quake, got super close, just like she did with the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. cast.

“I felt very welcomed. My favorite part was coming in and seeing the sets, like the airplane hanger. I saw that and I freaked out. They were like, ‘No pictures!’ I was like, ‘It’s fine, I’ll just have this moment to myself.’” Dove says. “I actually snuck into it and walked out in slow motion like, ‘Wow, this is what this feels like!’”

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs TONIGHT @ 9PM ET/PT on ABC.
