Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch Talks Cheryl's Bisexuality: 'I Think It's Great That She’s Fluid'

We’ve been hearing of Cheryl getting a new love interest on Riverdale for quite a while — and Madelaine Petsch is opening up a bit more about it all.

First, we totally thought the mystery love interest was Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), after it was revealed that Cheryl was indeed her secret admirer — but is Josie still that mystery love interest?

Speaking with Elle, Madeline still kept mum on a name, but did opened up about Cheryl being bisexual, which is something she addressed in her latest Q&A video.

“I am beyond honored to bring bisexuality in females to the screen more,” she shared. “I feel like it’s extremely rare to find a female who’s bisexual and not either lesbian or straight on television shows. I think it’s great that we’re living in a generation where I can play a character that’s fluid, and that’s something that really is happening in the world, and it’s socially acceptable.”

She adds that Cheryl is the kind of character who doesn’t need labels either: “She doesn’t need to label herself, I think it’s just great that she’s fluid.”

“She loves who she loves, and that’s a huge part of what we’re living through right now,” Madelaine adds. “That’s a huge part of the year that we’re in, and I hope it continues that way for the rest of my life and for human life.”

So, looks like we’ll still be waiting for more info on that love interest…
