Francia Raisa Says Selena Gomez 'Could Have Died' After Kidney Transplant Surgery

Francia Raisa is opening up about Selena Gomez‘s extremely difficult time after their kidney transplant surgeries back in June 2017.

During her recent interview, the 29-year-old grown-ish actress revealed the shocking news that the 25-year-old singer “could have died” following some serious post-surgery complications.

“Recovery was hard,” Francia told W Magazine. “I didn’t want to eat, I didn’t want to drink anything. Selena did have a complication, too.”

“A few hours after our surgery, I woke up and had a text from her that said, ‘I’m really scared,’” Francia shared. “My kidney was very active, and when she turned, she broke an artery. They had to take her into emergency surgery and get a vein from her leg and build a new artery to keep my kidney in place…She could have died.”

Luckily both Francia and Selena are recovering well now.
