Here's Everything Fifth Harmony Ever Said About The Band Breaking Up

To some fans, Fifth Harmony‘s announcement that the group was taking a hiatus was a big surprise — but for many, they sensed it was coming.

The first rumors about a break up came even before Camila Cabello left the band in 2016.

The break up comments startled Harmonizers after Dinah Jane said that they probably would go their separate ways later, but just not at that moment.

“We’ve been together for basically three years now and looking back…we’re very, very happy with where we’re at right now. But from here on out, we wanna hopefully win a couple more awards together…maybe build more music together as well,” she shared. “But I feel like we’ll probably go our separate ways later on. That’s the truth.”

After Camila did strike out on her own, the band battled more rumors about another split just months after. But they were committed to each other.

“Fifth Harmony is the home base…where we always come back,” Normani said, while discussing their latest single at the time, “Down”.

The next month, Fifth Harmony were back and stronger than ever after releasing their latest, self-titled album.

“It finally feels like we are living our lives. We’ve taken ownership,” Normani shared. “It’s been there all along, but maybe we weren’t confident enough or bold enough. This time, we’ve got the extra fire and we don’t care what anyone else has to say…I kinda wish it could have been like this all along.”

After the album, and more solo endeavours, like signing with solo music managers, Normani insisted the band would always come first.

“It’s funny because so many people were like, ’5H is over! Oh my gosh! She’s leaving the group.’ And I’m just sitting in my bed laughing because so many things can be misconstrued and misread and just taken out of context,” she said.

“I’m like, no, I’m not leaving my group. I would never. We’re on such a high right now. We’re at our peak. It would be dumb at this point, and it’s not what I want to do with my heart and soul. That wasn’t even a thought.”

Lauren also opened up about the group having more solo projects, and how the girls would continue to support each other in them.

“It’s really cool, because we’re branching out to creatively discover ourselves, because we never really got an opportunity to do that since we started this when we were…I was like 16 when I started…It’s cool to be able to give each other that space to really explore ourselves individually and grow.”

The indefinite hiatus announcement came this morning, March 19th, and instead of calling the musicians out, their fans decided to do something even better — thank them.
