Gigi Hadid Opens Up About Dealing With Online Trolls
Gigi Hadid arrives back at her apartment following a photoshoot in New York City on Tuesday afternoon (April 10).
The 22-year-old model is the cover girl for Harper’s Bazaar‘s new May issue and opened up about dealing with online haters who gripe about how she looks now, versus how she did in the past.
“Most of it is just nonsense,” Gigi says. “But it can still hurt. Nowadays, people are quick to say, ‘I used to love Gigi’s body, and now she just gave in.’ But I’m not skinny because I gave in to the industry.”
Gigi adds that her body change has more to do with her illness than anything else.
“When I had a more athletic figure, I was proud of my body because I was an amazing volleyball player and horseback rider,” she adds. “But after discovering that I have Hashimoto’s [an autoimmune disease], I needed to eat healthy and work out. It was weird as a teenager, dealing with this when all of my friends could eat McDonald’s and it wouldn’t affect them.”
