Shannon Purser, Auli'i Cravalho, & Their 'Rise' Co-Stars Reflect on Series Getting Canceled
The stars of NBC’s Rise are sharing their thoughts after learning that the series has been canceled after one season.
Shannon Purser, Auli’i Cravalho, and their co-stars took to Twitter to reflect following the network’s announcement on Friday (May 11).
“๐ It hurts to say that we have not been picked up for a second season,” Shannon wrote. “Iโm so grateful to our cast and crew for their hard work and Iโve made memories and friendships Iโll never forget. Thank you to all the fans for coming on this journey with us. @NBCRise.”
“Man. This really hurts,” she added.
The one-hour drama focused on a working-class high school drama department and the students as they come alive under a passionate teacher and family man whose dedication to the program galvanizes the entire town.
It also starred Ted Sutherland, Josh Radnor, Damon J. Gillespie, Rosie Perez, Marley Shelton, Amy Forsyth, and Taylor Richardson.
The season finale will premiere on May 15.

Really speechless right now.
I want to say some words about gratitude and about the future but this one stings. A lot. Gonna take a couple of days off social media for a bit. Coming back when I the words reach me. Lots of ๐— Damon J. Gillespie (@Damon_Gillespie) May 11, 2018
