Becky G Reveals Why She Works Out: Not For The 'Dream Body', But For Her Mental Health

Becky G revealed some inspiring words after sharing an inside peek at her workout last week.

“One step at a time. That’s what I have to constantly remind myself,” the “Mayores” singer wrote at the top of the video on her Instagram Stories.

After revealing that she had bad knees, Becky went on to explain how she’s using fitness to combat mental health.

“With the pressure of the industry I work in, I constantly felt like I was drowning. In comparisons, expectations, insecurities. You would never notice because of the whole ‘the show must go on’ mentality. The sad part is that it’s never ending. It’s never going to stop. So instead of downing in self doubt, I’m going to teach myself how to swim.”

Becky continued, “Before, my intentions for working out were only to have the typical ‘dream body’. Guess what! Never got there…it wasn’t inspiring. Instead, I felt discouraged.”

“Here I am. Finally ready for the beginning of a new chapter,” she added. “Conquering my anxiety and gaining control of my mental health. My motivation is bigger than just the perfect body but my overall health.”
