Shawn Mendes' New Music Doesn't Include Pronouns

Shawn Mendes‘s brand new, self-titled album is out tonight and we are so excited to hear it in full.

The 19-year-old singer has already dropped four songs from the record and if you’ve noticed, there’s one thing they have in common – there are no pronouns.

In fact, the entire album doesn’t feature any! The decision to do that was in part thanks to Shawn‘s longtime friendship with Teddy Geiger, who is transitioning.

“I made the whole album with her,” Shawn shared with EW. “I met Teddy the night I cut ‘Stitches’ and we’ve had a really special connection ever since then.”

He adds about not using pronouns in his songs: “Everything is up for your perspective. Let it be you. It really just doesn’t matter to me at all nowadays. I love how open everybody is and how open everything is. It just makes life more fun.”
