Dove Cameron Opens Up About Her Love/Hate Relationship With Social Media

Dove Cameron flashes a peace sign while leaving a nail salon on Thursday afternoon (May 31) in Vancouver, Canada.

The 22-year-old actress had a day off from Descendants 3 and got in a bit of “me” time before sharing a powerful message about social media.

“I really hate how Instagram makes me feel,” she started in an honest video on her Instagram Stories last night. “I hate how Twitter and other social media makes me feel. Whether I’m looking at other people’s lives or how I portray my life.”

Dove continues, “It’s funny because social media can be a really beautiful thing…I think there are loads of examples of when it’s been used for good…”

She also recognizes that stepping away from social media has been good for her.

“I’m in a really good place right now and I know I couldn’t have gotten there unless I’ve separated myself from this a little bit,” Dove adds. “…There’s no point to me posting this other than to say that I’m doing some human workingness on myself and if you see me doing it, you’ll understand that it’s okay to do it too.”
