Arden Cho Is So Grateful For 'Crazy Rich Asians' & 'To All The Boys I've Loved Before'

Over the weekend, many stars opened up about the impact Crazy Rich Asians had on them – and Arden Cho is joining them.

In a series of tweets, the Honor List actress revealed how she connected with the movie, plus To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before on its’ importance and why we need more of these films.

“As an awkward introverted teen I lived vicariously through movies,” Arden wrote. “I loved every romcom & romance movie but they always made me feel like you had to be white to be beautiful, to fall in love, to be the lead. I remember my first crush liking my best friend who was blonde with blue eyes, just like in the movies. I was invisible. I didn’t know what it meant to be Asian American, all I knew was I looked different & I hated it.”

She continues, “Until this weekend, I had never seen a film that made me think for a moment that someone who looked like me could be the heroine. Seeing Rachel Chu & Lara Jean as the lead of their stories was so powerful, so necessary. Just so many emotions I can’t capture but the little teenage girl in me is bawling 😭 May this be just the beginning to many more relatable films! #CrazyRichAsians #ToAllTheBoysIveLoved.”

“Also I’m so happy to see such gorgeous, stunning, sexy, hot, charming Asian American & Asian Women & Men on the BIG screen!!!!” Arden exclaimed. “Never been so proud to be Asian American!!! ❤️ Thank you to everyone who made #CrazyRichAsians come to life!”
