Sharna Burgess Decided Not To Do 'DWTS Juniors' For This Reason

As soon as the Dancing With The Stars Juniors spinoff series was announced, we were pulling to see Sharna Burgess on there, mentoring a younger dancer – however, her name was left off the list and now, we know why.

Speaking with ET, the 32-year-old pro dancer explained that it was her choice not to be a part of the junior season and instead “really concentrate on building on this part of my life. This was the first time I’ve had time to do that. Between seasons and tours and everything else, it’s been difficult to dedicate [time to anything else].”

Taking the time off of DWTS, Sharna has been able to concentrate on her blog, a new dance workout series, choreograph for So You Think You Can Dance and just concentrate on her.

“I took some me time,” she adds. “I went on a retreat, I went on a vacation. All these incredible things to feed the soul that I’ve needed for so long, so it was like a reset. It’s been seven really busy years and I just needed a little me time and do a little something for myself so I can get straight back into it.”

But don’t count Sharna out of the regular season, because she’s coming back for that.

“This next season, I just hope to really be creative and refreshed,” Sharna says. “I’ve had some amazing time off and I really can’t wait to come back.”

“I’m not ready to leave my family but am ready to talk about what the future holds for me with them and where else I can grow within that family with them, because I am not ready to leave that.”

We can’t wait to see her back on the show!
