'The Innocents' Sorcha Groundsell Learned To Speak Gaelic From Her Grandmother

Sorcha Groundsell is about to make her Netflix debut on The Innocents and we just found out a cool thing about her – she speaks Gaelic!

The Scottish actress opened up to Herald Scotland about learning and picking up the language from her grandmother and in school.

Knowing the language, Sorcha wants to see it represented in film.

“This is something that I’ve been thinking about a lot,” she says. “The Gaelic film industry is really underutilised.”

Sorcha continues, “There’s a lot of scope for creativity and there are a lot of great stories to be told. I think we’re due a great uprising of Gaelic culture. There’s space to do that. I would love to write in Gaelic.”

“I see Gaelic culture as a huge part of myself and my personality. It’s really important to me to have that part of Scottish culture represented.”

It would so cool to see Sorcha in a Gaelic film.
