Shannon Purser Once Planned All Her Outfits To Look Cool To A Guy She Liked

We have just three days left until Shannon Purser‘s new flick, Sierra Burgess is a Loser, is out on Netflix.

Speaking with ET, the -year-old actress opened up about pulling out all the stops for a previous boyfriend and why she relates to Sierra.

“I was into this one guy that was like, punk and cool and rock ‘n roll. So I went out and bought black high top Converse,” Shannon shared, opening up about the things she did to get a crush’s attention.

She added, “[I] like, literally planned out my outfits for when I knew he’d be around, so I’d look like, as cool and alternative as possible. It was a time.”

Turns out that it ended up working a bit too: “We ended up dating… but it didn’t work out. But you know what? It was fun.”

Shannon also chatted about relating to her character in the movie.

“I mean, I definitely relate to not being a part of the popular crowd,” she shared. “But, you know, [Sierra wasn't] a loser in the end. I think she was pretty self-confident and had a best friend and was doing alright in high school before this boyfriend showed up and changed everything.”

“I kind of know how that feels, too, to have your world turned upside down. It was cool to pull from that.”

Sierra Burgess is a Loser premieres Friday, September 7th.
