Amandla Stenberg Talks About Black Girls' 'Superpower of Empathy'

Amandla Stenberg spoke with a young activist named Marley Dias for a new feature in Glamour and one thing they talked about was a skill that black girls learn from birth.

This is something that Amandla calls a “superpower of empathy.”

“We have a unique voice because we grow up with the ability to empathize. We constantly have to do the work of placing ourselves in other people’s shoes,” Amandla said.

Amandla added that the things that make them different also make them special – “the way that we talk, the way that we love, the way that we express ourselves, how we do our hair.”
