These Two Characters Almost Didn't Make It To Season Two of 'Stranger Things'

Imagine a life where Steve and Eleven aren’t part of Stranger Things. You can’t, can you?

Well, that was almost the case according to creators Matt and Ross Duffer, as they revealed in a new behind-the-scenes companion book, “Stranger Things: Worlds Turned Upside Down”.

“Eleven was going to sacrifice herself to save the day. That was always the end game,” Ross shared.

However, the show was renewed for a season two and that’s ultimately what saved the character, played by Millie Bobby Brown.

“We needed to leave it more up in the air, because deep down we knew the show just wouldn’t really work without Eleven. And at that point, we knew how special Millie was. If there was going to be more Stranger Things, Eleven had to come back.”

As for Steve, played by Joe Keery, is was all about the fan love for the character that kept him alive.

“This Steve character, he was just supposed to be this giant douchebag,” Ross added.

Stranger Things season three is filming now.
