Nina Dobrev Opens Up About Moving On From 'The Vampire Diaries' With Comedy
Nina Dobrev is opening up about her life post-Vampire Diaries in the upcoming January 2019 issue of Women’s Health.
The 29-year-old actress recalls after saying goodbye to the long running series as Elena Gilbert, how she was worried that she might end up pigeonholed in her career.
“I was like, ‘Why am I here? What am I doing? Is it making me happy? What can I do to make me happier?’” Nina says. So, she turned towards comedy, but wasn’t being taken seriously at all.
She adds, “They [potential bosses] were just like, ‘Oh, she was on a [teen] drama. She’s not funny.’”
So, to turn her luck around she took Improv 101 classes: “I probably sucked. But I got better.” She pitched a sketch to Funny or Die. She even wrote a feature-length comedy.
Then, her new series, Fam, came.
The show is set to premiere on Thursday, January 10th @ 9:30PM ET/PT on CBS.
