There Are No Plans For The 'Divergent' Planned TV Series After All

Once upon a time, Divergent was poised to become the next big YA series on the big screen – however, it failed to be just that.

After three films, Lionsgate put hold on the plans to finish the franchise with a fourth film, called Ascendant, which was to be based on the latter half of the Allegiant book.

Then came news of a planned television movie and series, which none of the stars seemed thrilled about.

“No,” star Shailene Woodley told Vanity Fair last year. “I’m not going to be on the television show.”

Late last year, Shailene was saying almost the exact same thing: “Last I heard they were trying to make it into a television show. I didn’t sign up to be in a television show…I’m not necessarily interested in doing a television show.”

According to a new article from BuzzFeed News, the plans for the television series isn’t moving forward and is “no longer in active development.”

If you don’t know, or haven’t read the books by Veronica Roth, the books end by Tris actually dying.
