There's a Big Twist in Vanessa Hudgens' New Movie 'Second Act' (Spoilers)

Before you continue reading this post, beware that we’re going to be discussing some BIG spoilers from Vanessa Hudgens‘ new movie Second Act, which is currently in theaters.

You’ll probably want to see the movie first before reading anything about the twist, so rush to the theater now and see it!!!

The comedy is about a woman (Jennifer Lopez) struggling with frustrations from unfulfilled dreams. Until, that is, she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts, and that it is never too late for a Second Act.

Jennifer‘s character Maya gets hired as a consultant at the company Franklin & Clarke and Vanessa plays her co-worker, who also happens to be the daughter of the head of the company. Click inside to read more!

We find out in the middle of the movie that Jennifer‘s character had a child when she was 17 and gave the baby away. That child… is Vanessa‘s character!

Vanessa says she already knew the twist before reading the script. She told Vulture, “I kind of got the surprise ruined for me. Because they were like, ‘It’s to play J.Lo’s daughter.’ And I was like, ‘Okay!’ And then I read the script, and I was like, ‘Wait, you guys shouldn’t have told me that.’ Let me have the surprise!”

She added, “I had to go in and read for it. Read with her. But as soon as I did my read with her, apparently she was like, ‘That’s it, she’s the one.’ Because we just had this amazing connection where, at the end of the scene, we were both crying and it just felt so real. I feel like that’s so important.”
