Lily Collins Was Surprised To Learn She'd Been Pronouncing J.R.R. Tolkien's Name Wrong

Lily Collins is part of a club, the not realizing they were saying J.R.R. Tolkien‘s name right club.

The actress, who plays Edith Bratt in the ucpoming biopic of the author’s life, opened up about realizing she was saying it wrong during filming with Nicholas Hoult.

“I think Nick and I were both surprised,” Lily shared about the correct pronunciation. “A lot of the times on set we found ourselves having to correcting ourselves.”

If you don’t know, Tolkien is pronounced Tol-keen, not Tol-kin. The movie will follow the writer’s life from his childhood, to his time as a soldier in the war and his relationship.

Lily also praised the film with The Telegraph, which is the only movie ever made about the author’s life.

“I believe that it’s an amazing story to tell,” she said. “Everyone who sees the film agrees that we have to do honor to the man himself. To just know the stories would be a shame, to know the man himself is the right honor.”

Tolkien will be out in theaters on May 10th.
