Camila Mendes On Owning Her Confidence: 'I Don't Want Anyone To Ever Just See Me as One Thing'
Camila Mendes almost gets swallowed whole by a gorgeous yellow dress in her May cover story for Teen Vogue.
The 24-year-old Riverdale and The Perfect Date actress opened up with the glossy about confidence, typecasting and her personal style. Check it:
On how carrying herself with a certain confidence has informed how she’s been cast so far—often as the confident popular girl: “I always need to mask that part of my personality in auditions. Even when I’m just walking in, I have to put on a little bit of a doe-eyed face, this young energy…I don’t want anyone to ever just see me as one thing. I want to be malleable, I want to be able to blend into different groups [and types] of people. I don’t want to be defined.”
On not worrying about early typecasting sticking to her: “I feel good about where I’m headed. I don’t think I’ll be playing the same roles forever.”
On her laid-back approach to personal style: “Maybe this is bad to say for a fashion magazine, but I never really cared much about the labels of designer clothing. I really care more about style.”
