Kylie Jenner was in a big party mood over the weekend for her BFF Anastasia Karanikolaou‘s 21st – and actually threw her a huge party in Los Angeles with a Handmaid’s Tale theme.
Sharing a few pics on her Instagram Stories, Kylie and Sofia Richie were seen wearing the Hulu series’ red robes and white bonnets for the party – and Twitter had some opinions about it.
It’s reported that Kylie captioned an early Instagram Story video of the party with, “You know The Handmaid’s Tale is my favorite show ever … so for Stassi’s birthday … welcome to Gilead.”
“Women’s bodies get policed on a daily, some states are trying to ban abortion, yet Kylie Jenner thought a Handmaid’s tale theme party was a good idea,” one fan reacted on Twitter.
Another posted that the themed party is “so insulting when there are people dressing up as handmaid’s to fight for control over their reproductive rights… this privilege and ignorance is gross.”
Later on, Kylie uploaded a cute pic of her and Stassi in matching hot pink bikinis poolside.
