'Grown-ish' Star Halle Bailey Cast as Ariel in 'The Little Mermaid'!

Congrats to Halle Bailey!

The 19-year-old actress and singer has nabbed the role of Ariel in the upcoming live action movie, The Little Mermaid!

Halle, who stars on Freeform’s grown-ish, will join the pic directed by Rob Marshall.

Melissa McCarthy, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina are still in talks to join the movie as Ursula, Flounder and Scuttle.

Now, we just have to see who gets the part of Prince Eric!

The Little Mermaid remake will be incorporating original songs from the animated movie, plus new tunes from original composer Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The movie centers on Ariel, who longs to live on land after a lifetime in the sea.
