Camila Mendes Opens Up About Veronica's Relationships With Her Parents in 'Riverdale' Season 4

Camila Mendes is sharing a few more details about what Veronica’s home life will be like in the upcoming season of Riverdale.

Speaking to press at the 2019 Comic-Con, the 25-year-old actress shared that the new episodes will center on Veronica’s relationship with her mom, Hermione.

“She put her dad in prison, but she didn’t want her mom to end up there. So I think she’s definitely sad about that. But I’m hoping we see that relationship explored more this season because last season, there was a lot of back and forth between those two characters,” she shared.

Camila continued, “Veronica didn’t know if she could trust her mom. Her mom was kind of in a sticky situation where she was being used and more like Hiram’s puppet at some points, but then would randomly be like the puppet master in a way.”

“I think Veronica was so skeptical of her all of season three,” she continued. “In season four, I’d like to see a little bit more resolved between those two characters and see if they can be vulnerable each other again.”

As for Veronica and Hiram’s relationship: “He is making her life very difficult. We find her in Episode Two, wanting to apply to Harvard and get into good colleges and Hiram is definitely going to be an obstacle in Veronica’s goals.”

Riverdale returns in October on The CW.
