Troian Bellisario Says That Seeing Mental Health Struggles On Screen Helps Her Deal With Her Own Anxiety

Troian Bellisario is grateful that her new film, Where’d You Go, Bernadette?, is portraying mental health in a realistic light.

Speaking with Marie Claire magazine, the 33-year-old actress, who plays Becky in the film, opened up about how seeing anxiety on screen has helped her with her own struggles.

“If you’re struggling, one of the most difficult things is feeling as though you’re wrong or that you shouldn’t be feeling this way or that you shouldn’t talk about it,” she shared. “I think the most helpful thing for me was speaking out about my anxiety and depression and engaging with mental health professionals. And letting people that I love know that I was struggling.”

Troian previously opened up about her struggles in Child Mind Institute’s mental health campaign.

Where’d You Go, Bernadette? is out in theaters on Friday.
