'Book Of Enchantment' Disney+ Series is No Longer Happening

The previously announced Disney+ series Book of Enchantment will not be going forward.

The cancellation of the project, which was set to focus on iconic Disney villains, was announced on Thursday (August 22) ahead of the D23 convention, Deadline reports.

The series was going to be based on the “Villains” book series by Serena Valentino, telling the origin stories of villains like Ursula from The Little Mermaid, The Beast from Beauty and the Beast, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, and the Wicked Queen from Snow White.

Michael Seitzman was set to write and produce.

The decision to cancel was “largely creative, related to show’s tone and direction,” according to the outlet.
