Taylor Swift Thought Her VMAs 2009 Moment Was Something That Would Never Happen
Everyone is aware that Taylor Swift had her moment stolen from her at the 2009 MTV VMAs by Kanye West and now the singer is sharing her diary entry from that night.
The 29-year-old singer just released tons of diary entries from the past ten years as part of the deluxe editions for her album Lover.
At that VMAs in 2009, Taylor won the award for Best Female Video for “You Belong with Me” and Kanye West rushed on stage and took the microphone away from her. He told the audience that Beyonce deserved the award for “Single Ladies.”
Later in the night, Beyonce won for Video of the Year and she had Taylor come back on stage to properly accept her award.
“Ahh… the things that can change in a week,” she wrote in the diary entry. “If you had told me that one of the biggest stars in music was going to jump on stage and announce that he thought I shouldn’t have won on live television, I would’ve said, ‘That stuff doesn’t really happen in real life.’”
“Well… apparently… It does,” she ended the note.
Taylor previously wrote her song “Innocent” as a message to Kanye, who she forgave at the time. They have since had a long history of feuds and are not on good terms anymore.
